If you skimp on food all day, your body will feel ‘starved’ by night. Most importantly, plan meals ahead especially the evening meal when temptation is hardest to overcome. Planning ahead keeps you in control of what and when you eat!
Satisfying Hunger
Weight loss information often forgets this important aspect of managing your weight loss and maintenance too. You should only eat to satisfy hunger. Many people overeat because they have different reasons for eating. We’ve talked about some of them above such as binge eating and emotional eating. But many people just keep eating because they don’t think about what they’re eating and why. They are overcome by the taste of a decadent dessert or grilled steak. Although they feel full, they keep stuffing in chocolate, pastries, and potato chips. Make a conscious effort to pay attention when you are eating. Eat slowly and take time between bites to savour and enjoy food. Allow your brain to signal your body that you are feeling full and then STOP. Eat to satisfy hunger – not to satisfy anything else!
